Vision Keeper 2003

Evanston Ecumenical Action Council (EEAC)

Glen Smith, Sr.

Glen Smith Sr., originally from Forest City Arkansas, moved to Evanston in 1959. He is and has been a very active member within the Evanston community for over 38 years. Glen is a retired Commonwealth Edison electrician; which in no way has slowed him down, but has given him more of an opportunity to share his time and talents. All you'd have to do is ask. Glen rejoined the Bethel AME Church in 2000.
Glen Smith is a member who does not like attention. You will often find Glen sitting quietly and listening attentively; however, he is ready and willing to offer a hand for the advancement of the kingdom of God. Glen has found a place in Bethel AME Church where his time and talents can be utilized; whether it's assisting in building a library, classrooms for the churches Sunday School or building sets for the Easter Sunday program. Glen's work does not stop in the church as he is often found in the homes of the congregation offering a helping hand. He stands tall in the community as an example of an individual whose thrust is to complete the joy of Jesus. His church family admires his humility and receptiveness of lending his talents. His wife and kids admire his ability to lead as a great role model.
He is a member of Bethel AME Church and serves on the Board of Trustees. Glen is a loving husband, a wonderful father of three children and four charming and beautiful grandchildren whom he cherishes; Alexis, Mia, Ryan and Adonis. You may find Glen babysitting Alexis or Mia or attending one of Ryan's hockey games, or even sneaking in a Sony play station game with Adonis.
Through all of Glen's life experiences, his kind-heartedness and dedication to God, makes him a true Vision Keeper!
